M. Luc Audebrand, Professeur titulaire spécialiste de l'économie sociale et solidaire et Titulaire de la Chaire en leadership en enseignement sur l'engagement social, Université Laval (Québec, Canada),

pour une présentation intitulée "Weather the Storm : Digital Innovation Under Umbrella Organizations" (proposée en français).

 

Ce séminaire, organisé conjointement par le Granem, la SFR Confluences et l'IAE Angers, est ouvert tous les enseignants-chercheurs intéressés par les thématiques de l'ESS, des réseaux et/ou de la transition numérique.

 

Le résumé de cette intervention (proposée en français) est le suivant :

Social economy organizations tend to organize as networks of collective action, which enable them to survive in a capitalistic environment and to increase their economic and social impacts. Digital technologies have been used widely to facilitate such collaborations: information is exchanged through emails, websites, and social media platforms daily. Some networks went a step further, by automating data transmission among a value chain (e.g., agrifood businesses) or across a territory (e.g., cooperative banks) through inter-organizational information systems (IOISs).  However, most social economy networks are yet to be equipped with their own IOISs. This results in two paradoxical situations. First, social economy organizations appear to be less efficient in digitally enabled inter-organizational collaborations than their capitalist counterparts. In practice, most data transmission among social economy organizations relies over intensive manual work (writing emails and posts), while capitalist platforms have created global models relying on automated data transmission among international networks of independent providers (Uber, Amazon, Booking…). Second, social economy organizations rely heavily on such capitalist platforms to collaborate among them, hereby directly participating to fund and feed them with valuable data.We will present preliminary results from an empirical study about the dynamics and challenges faced by organizational networks – including social economy networks – in deploying IOISs. More specifically, we will explore the conditions which enable the emergence of an IOIS, focusing on umbrella organizations as potential leaders of collective digital transition for their organizational field.
